Addis Ababa is transforming its urban landscape and enhancing the quality of life of its residents through the development of inclusive infrastructure designed to benefit all segments of society, according to a message from the Addis Ababa Mayor’s Office.
“By implementing development projects that take into account the diverse needs of its communities, the city is laying the foundation for a more accessible, inclusive, and livable urban environment that serves everyone,” the Mayor’s Office stated.
The expansion of accessible roads, pedestrian walkways, public recreational spaces, and modern urban infrastructure tailored to the needs of pedestrians, older persons, children, and persons with disabilities is contributing to the creation of a city where no one is left behind.
The Mayor’s Office highlighted that improvements to pedestrian pathways, the upgrading of road-crossing points, and the expansion of public recreational and communal spaces are enabling residents to move around the city more safely and comfortably while enjoying equal access to urban resources and services.
These initiatives go beyond physical infrastructure development. They reflect a broader transformative approach aimed at promoting social equity, enhancing the quality of life, strengthening public participation, and ensuring inclusive access to essential urban services.
The city’s commitment to inclusive infrastructure underscores its vision of building a more accessible, equitable, and sustainable urban environment that responds to the needs of all residents.
“Let us all benefit from and jointly protect our shared urban spaces,” the Mayor’s Office urged.
