The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) Deputy Commissioner, Zinabu Yirga, held discussions with the Ambassador of Mexico to Ethiopia, Alejandro Estivill, on strengthening investment cooperation and trade relations between the two countries.
During the discussion, Deputy Commissioner Zinabu Yirga highlighted that Ethiopia offers vast opportunities in manufacturing, agro-processing, agriculture, and other priority investment sectors. He extended an invitation from the Commission for Mexican investors to invest their capital in Ethiopia.
For his part, Ambassador Alejandro Estivill stated that there are significant opportunities to further strengthen the cooperation between Mexico and Ethiopia in the investment, trade, and agro-industry sectors. He assured that the Embassy will work closely with the Ethiopian Investment Commission to enhance the trade and investment relations between the two nations.
Specifically, the Ambassador noted that Gruma, Mexico’s international producer of corn-based food products, has expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in Ethiopia. He further indicated that a delegation from the company is scheduled to visit Ethiopia this coming August.
Finally, both sides agreed to work closely to create favorable conditions for greater participation of Mexican investors in Ethiopia and to solidify their mutual cooperation, according to Ethiopian investment commission.
