Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed together with high-level government officials, inaugurated Grandeur Ceramic Manufacturing in Mojo City. The facility is a world-class ceramic and porcelain tile manufacturing plant spanning 300,000 square meters, completed in just nine months from land preparation to full commissioning.
Already in active production of 60×60 ceramic tiles, the factory is expected to expand within the next two months to manufacture 80×80, 60×120, 70×140, and 80×160 tile formats, alongside porcelain tiles produced to European quality standards. With an investment exceeding 2 billion birr, the facility marks a major milestone in Ethiopiaβs industrial transformation.
Approximately 80 percent of the factoryβs raw materials are sourced locally from within a 100-kilometer radius, creating a fully integrated and community-rooted supply chain. At a time when Ethiopia has saved more than $4.85 billion in foreign exchange within just nine months through import substitution, Grandeur Ceramic not only reduces imports but also positions Ethiopia to compete in global markets.
