Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration Adanech Abiebie announced in a social media post that the city administration has begun reviewing its performance during the first quarter of the 2019 Ethiopian fiscal year.
The Mayor said the administration had prepared a five-year strategic plan and an annual plan for the 2019 fiscal year, building on achievements made over the past five years, with the aim of delivering greater results in the coming five years.
She emphasized that the success of the administration should not be measured solely by the number of works undertaken, but also by the extent to which it has eased the cost-of-living burden on residents, improved public services and built institutional capacity for sustainable progress.
“As a Medemer Government, the administration will focus on coordinating institutional capacity, resources and knowledge to transform current achievements into future capabilities and short-term successes into sustainable national capacity,” the Mayor said.
Adanech stated that Addis Ababa should serve as a model for other Ethiopian cities, compete with cities around the world and ensure a better quality of life for its residents.
She added that achieving this vision requires coordinated leadership, strong institutions and people-centered implementation.
“Our work today is our capacity for tomorrow; our achievements today are the foundation of Ethiopia’s civilization tomorrow,” the Mayor stated.
